Boating and Fishing
A canoe is provided at each dock, free of charge. Check with our office
staff about the camp’s Sunfish. Boat rentals can be arranged at the Great
Pond Marina in Belgrade Lakes.
Anglers, be sure to bring your rods! Great Pond is known for its large-mouthed and small-mouthed bass, Northern Pike, perch, pickerel, and the occasional land-locked salmon. Fishing licenses are available at Day’s General Store in Belgrade Lakes Village.
Please note that the use of Jet Skis is not permitted.
Tennis and Golf
Three well-maintained Har-tru tennis courts are available on island for
guests at no charge. Our tennis person takes care of the courts and is
available for practice play. Guests are invited to join in on a "break
the ice" round robin tournament each Monday morning. Meet new partners
and win a trophy!
On Monday afternoons, a free tennis clinic is held for children. Private or group lessons available at low rates.
Golfers take note: a world-class course awaits you at the nearby Belgrade Lakes Golf Club in Belgrade Lakes village.
Children’s Activities: Monday-Friday
Arts, crafts or games keep the kids occupied each weekday morning. For
children 3-6 years of age, activities are from 9 to 10 a.m. (Younger
children may participate with a parent.) Children 7 and up, from 10 to 11
a.m. Meet at the picnic tables, or in the Main Lodge in case of bad
weather.
Evening Activities: Monday- Friday
Fun for all ages! After supper, Taconnet staff members lead a game of
wiffle ball, kick ball, basketball, soccer or Capture the Flag. Join the fun
or enjoy an after-dinner cup of coffee and watch. Another favorite activity
is a trip to the lakeside roller rink in Smithfield; rent skates or bring
your own rollerblades.
On Sunday evenings, beginning at 5:15, an informal reception at the Main Lodge allows you to meet other Taconnet guests and enjoy appetizers and light refreshments.

Community Traditions
In keeping with our rustic setting, Taconnet provides an old-fashioned,
relaxing atmosphere. Cottages often have games, books and other diversions,
but no televisions or telephones. To maintain the family-friendly ambience,
we do not allow alcoholic beverages or smoking in the Main Lodge. Cell
phone service can vary, but there is a pay phone for guests located near the
lodge. We ask that you not use your cell phone in public areas.
Please note that pets are not allowed.

Meals and "The Clacker"
Still a tradition, wake up time and meals are announced by a Taconnet staff
member running around the island with an antique wooden clacker.
Children gather to chase after the runner!

| Breakfast Clacker: | 8:00am | |
