Meet our management team: Suzanne and Steve Kaplan.
Suzanne and Steve Kaplan are returning to Taconnet after they held the post as managers from 2002-2006. Back then their young children (Abby and Lily) roamed the island to play with friends, swam in the lake, and enjoyed the great food and traditions that make Taconnet so special. In fact, many of the items still used at camp were created by Suzanne and Steve - such as the Taconnet sign, the painted dining tables, the watercolor pages in the guest book, and the ceramic touches around camp.
The Kaplans met at Rochester Institute of Technology's School for American Crafts where they studied art and for nearly thirty years they have been art teachers in the Boston area. In the mid 90's they bought an old farm property in central Massachusetts and have been fixing it up ever since! They ran their own business, Hudson House Studios, making pottery and furniture on commission and exhibiting in local galleries and art shows. Today, they share the property with their daughter's two horses (Mo and Patty), two cats (Fred and Willow), and their dog, (Amazing) Grace.
The Kaplans are excited to be returning to Taconnet, reconnecting with the many guests and owners who still visit the island as well as meeting new faces!
